Second annual PEDAL AND PADDLE has a date set and we're gonna be working real hard from now till then. Hope you have big plans for this year. Here is a nice game to start this thing off right. See if you can name everyone in the pic above. Have fun.
well I see..... Frank Zappa Wild Bill and what I would love to say is Ted Nugent.....but I'm thinking is a member of Pink Floyd. Not totally sure......let me know bitches
it's simple: 1.get a bike and some sort of "device" that will allow you and your bike to float down the river.
2. attach device to your bike, or to a trailer, or to yourself, however you want, we don't care.
3. Start at the start, ride as a group to Barber Park.
4. get off bikes. inflate devices. place bikes in/on/next to device/s. float river to secret take-out that will be announced at start.
5. get out of river. deflate devices. pack up and ride to secret after-party (location also to be announced at start) for consumables.
why?
I had heard a friend talk about a brilliant idea to marry the joy of riding bicycles and the tradition of floating down the Boise river. He had named it the "Pedal and Paddle". At the time I was a fool and did not act upon it. My days of folly have ceased and now is a time, after having experienced it, to share this idea and promote it. It is simple. It is gorgeous. Hell, it fed my soul a little. What you do is: Take your raft, tube, floatie, whatever, strap it to your back, ride yourself to Barber park, fill up, toss your bike in and float down the Boise to your favorite take out spot. No two cars, no waiting for the White Whale. Take it up, take it down. That's why you are reading this. I'm sharing this with you. I want you to be a part of this thing. For many years I had toyed with the idea of becoming more sustainable as a human being. I recycled. I bought from local companies. Now I commute on my bicycle to work. See, it changed -now I DO it. It's easier now. Take a little step. Then another. Yeah, yeah, you get it. This is not just about having a great time, you get to do a little (fun) work to help out: removing cars from the road (and reducing emissions), improving your health, and creating a unique way to enjoy the city you live in.
